Pair of Poppies on menu for couple

Westbourne is home to a new delicatessen and cafe.

Poppy Mae is run by Matt Lasek and his pregnant wife and has been named after the daughter the couple is expecting.

“Up to 90 per cent of the produce is sourced locally within 30 miles of the business,” explained Mr Lasek.

“We stock New Forest Wine, Setley Ridge Wine from Brockenhurst and New Forest Water.”

Mr Lasek has invested £20,000 of personal funds in the new venture and has experience of working in the catering industry.

“I have run my own consultancy where I helped open up other catering businesses,” he said, adding that he would source staff and create menus for start-up enterprises.

His customers range from youngsters to university students, businessmen to the elderly.

Mr Lasek has agreed a three-year lease on the premises in Poole Road near the arcade.

The cafe is open from 8.30am-5.30pm six days a week.
