No need for a paperless office

Recycled paper can be as tough as wood or metal.

This has been proved by the new Paperweight Desk, which has been unveiled at So Furniture in Seamoor Road, Westbourne.

It is made from 74 per cent recycled paper with the remainder coming from sustainable sources.

It is 100 per cent recyclable. And not only is it environmentally friendly, it is robust and able to cope with the demands of everyday life thanks to being clay-coated.

It has a water-based varnished top to repel spillages. Rod Adams, business marketing manager at So Furniture says it comes flat-packed and is fairly easy to assemble in around 10 minutes.

“We have 10 in stock. They’re made in Oxford,” he said, adding that it should appeal to domestic and commercial customers who care about their carbon footprint.

The Paperweight Desk weighs just 15kg or the same as a bag of potatoes and can be easily lifted as So Furniture director Kirsty McEwing demonstrates (see photograph on the left).

Made by Cardboard Future, the desk usually retails for £152 but until the end of March is for sale for £140.

So Furniture has been trading for five years and employs three staff.
