THE British government has officially thanked a small business in Bournemouth for helping the UK escape the grips of recession.
Secretary of State for Business Lord Mandelson hosted a reception at Number 10 where he met Simon Phelps, who founded flood protection company Fluvial Innovations.
“Small businesses are the lifeblood of the British economy and we recognise what an important role they have played in getting the country through the recession,” said Lord Mandelson. “Simon Phelps is an inspiration and a good example of why support from government was so crucial over the downturn.”
Mr Phelps established Fluvial Innovations in 2006 to commercialise a flood protection system he developed in his final year at Bournemouth University.
