Record profits on way for hotel

A BOURNEMOUTH hotel is bucking the trend after announcing record profits for the first half of this year.

The four-star Royal Bath is currently £120,000 ahead of its 2010 targets and £153,000 up on this time last year, boosting the top sales growth in the entire De Vere Hotel group across the UK.

According to the latest HotStats survey from TRI Hospitality Consulting while profitability at London hotels has soared, provincial hoteliers are struggling to make ends meet with a decline in room rates during the first half of 2010.

Royal Bath general manager Paul Spencer put the hotel’s unprecedented success down to hard work and the efforts of his staff.

He added: “The volcanic ash cloud saw our sales increase along with the trend of more people holidaying in the UK due to the weak pound.

“But our team of dedicated staff should really take the credit. I’m proud of each and every one of them.

“We work hard in finding the right people, providing them with great training and development opportunities as well as ensuring they are rewarded for their efforts.”

In the past six months wedding bookings at the Royal Bath have soared by 200 per cent and there’s been a record rise in conference bookings.

The hotel has announced a number of exciting projects, including the development of a wedding garden and the launch of a new café/restaurant, which will be called the Café Promenade.
