Furniture firm invests in transport for customers

David Phipp, the furniture retailer in Ferndown, has invested in a Renault Kangoo to transport elderly or infirm customers, who would otherwise be unable to visit the shop.

The vehicle, which is emblazoned with David Phipp branding, has a drop-down ramp, allowing for wheelchair access.

Owner David Phipp said: “We used to have a courtesy car to collect people who could not get here but then found that some had wheelchairs.

“We will pick them up in their wheelchair.

“We have had it two weeks and have picked up a couple of people already. There’s no obligation to purchase.”

The vehicle is driven by a member of the sales team.

The David Phipp shop in Ringwood Road is wheelchair friendly and has a lift too.

Customers who purchase a riser chair or an electrically adjustable bed for medical purposes, can claim back the VAT, Mr Phipp said.
