New road tests added every month

THE new A6 certainly looks the part, sitting lower than the standard A6 with large 19-inch alloys shod with 235/35 tyres, rear LED lights and the S-Line styling pack.
The Audi A6 Avant is a big car; in fact the inside is huge, giving a real sense of space, plenty of room for five six-foot adults and luggage.
It’s ideal for the executive who needs space to carry business clients during the week and good accommodation for the family at the weekend.
With 564 litres of boot space, increasing to a cavernous 1,660 litres with the rear seats folded flat, you will never be short of space.
There is plenty of headroom and a real feeling of space inside the cabin.
The driving position is comfortable for tall or shorter individuals.
The S-Line sports seats, trimmed with leather, have plenty of support for cornering and yet are still very comfortable for longer journeys.
You would be hard pushed to know this is a diesel when sitting inside, as the sound proofing seems to deaden the typical diesel rumble extremely well.
Driving the Le Mans Edition is where the fun begins. Make no mistake, this is a big car that manages to be nimble and flexible at the same time.
The A6 Le Mans sits lower to the road, thanks to stiffer and lowered springs, which gives more of a sporting ride, while not compromising on ride quality.
The 2.0TDi 170bhp engine is smooth and free-revving with a very light feel, while attached to a “bullet proof”, slick, six-speed gearbox.
Considering the A6 weighs in at 1635kg, zero to 60mph is achieved in a respectable 9.2 seconds, although it feels faster, and the A6 will continue on to 137 mph where the law allows.
At 48.7 mpg if driven sensibly on the combined cycle, this gives a 750-mile range from full to empty.
CO2 emissions are a mere 152g/km, while benefit in kind for the business user is 21 per cent.
Audi has included lots of standard kit with the Le Mans Edition including a technology pack which has bang up-to-date DVD satellite navigation, colour driver information system and multi play CD player.
Audi has also included all the standard spec from the S-Line model as well, which includes cruise control, electric front and rear windows, heated electric mirrors, dual-zone climate control, adjustable steering, metallic paint, front fog lights, Bluetooth, acoustic rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers and heated sports seats. A whole lot of kit for your money!
Feel safe and secure as the A6 also carries a EURO NCAP five-star rating for passenger safety.
If you need a big car but want to maintain a nimble and exhilarating drive I would recommend test driving the A6 Le Mans before making your decision.
