The Government Has Lost Control

In May 2004 the government predicted between 5,000 and 13,000 immigrants would arrive in Britain from Eastern European Countries - more than 600,000 came. Recently the Government confessed it was 300,000 out in its foreign workers: 1.1 million have arrived since 1997.

Government failing 75% of Small Businesses

BT joined forces recently with the British Chamber of Commerce, the Royal Bank of Scotland, Business Link and Everywoman to run Small Business Week 2007. The first time government, business and independent organisations have come together to recognise the importance and promote the cause of the UK's 4.3 million small businesses - to explore the issues and opportunities they face and champion their cause.

Cynical Government picks on Small Business yet Again!

On Tuesday October 9 the Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling delivered his Pre-Budget Report with the announcement of the abolition of taper relief on capital gains tax (CGT). This will be a major blow to millions of small businesses as the relief allowed small business owners to sell up and pay 10% CGT on the profit.

It has been a roller coaster few weeks, but many analysts predict the property market should survive the credit crunch. Clearly the Northern Rock crisis has dented confidence, but signs of a slowdown in the housing market had been evident long before 'credit crunch' and 'subprime mortgages' became part of the standard dinner party debate.
