SOME of the biggest speakers in the world of marketing from overseas and the UK are to come to Bournemouth for the second You Are the Media Conference.

The names were announced by host Mark Masters at the You Are the Media Lunch Club yesterday.

The first, Echo-backed conference – aimed at anyone looking to build a loyal audience online – proved a success in May.

Mr Masters said: “The conference is all about the loyal audience that businesses can build. This means people stay and spend. There is an epidemic of purposelessness out there at the moment, with companies producing content that doesn’t connect with anyone.

“The day brings together practitioners to share how to apply a content driven approach and also the people and companies who are making this work for them.”

Speakers will include New York-based Margaret Magnarelli, who is vice-president of marketing at Monster.com. She will demonstrate how the recruitment company uses empathy in its message and how it can be applied to other business.

The line-up also includes marketing double act Andrew Pickering and Pete Gartland; PR podcaster Janet Murray; Steven Lamb, head of brand at River Cottage; marketing pioneer Doug Kesler; and Jon Burkhart, who spoke this year and will round up the day with a “closing beernote”.

Mr Masters added: “Each year we have someone from Dorset who has grown a voice that has helped them in business. Our You Are The Media local champion for 2019 will be Jake Moore, from internet security company ESET. Jake’s video series whilst at Dorset Police has helped push him to even bigger things.”

Mr Masters will also broadcast via Facebook Live today at 1pm at the You Are The Media Facebook Group.
